Our exhibition will include a short introduction, as well as a brief overview of what the Taiken exhibit is about, which is the history of Japanese-Canadian internment.

It showcases the origins of Japanese-Canadian immigration and the communities it established before and after the war. I'll be using props to highlight some key events (e.g. property seizure, internment shacks, suitcase) throughout and end with the demonstration of our traveling education kit (the "suitcase"). Time permitting, we can explore Q&A as well as our downstairs gallery exhibit of photo panels from Steveston.
